PORT WASHINGTON ATHLETICS

The Port Washington School District offers 89 sports at both the high school and middle school levels.  Paul D. Schreiber High School has 52 teams at the varsity, junior varsity and JV II levels.  Weber Middle School has 37 teams.

Port Washington has one of the largest enrollments in Nassau County and competes in the Class AA classification for playoffs.

For the 2008-2009 school year, every varsity program at the high school was named New York State Scholar Athlete team earning Paul D. Schreiber a Schools of Distinction honor from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.  Port was awarded the same distinction in the 2009-2010 school year.

The high school sports programs were named Nassau County Sportsmanship Winners by the Officials Association for the second year in a row.  The honor is bestowed upon the school whose coaches, players and spectators represent the highest level of sportsmanship among the 57 public schools in Nassau County.

Our district has a five year old field turf facility for football, soccer, lacrosse and field hockey contests.  The high school gymnasium has been upgraded and a new state of the art track and field facility has been constructed with new bleacher seating.
