Welcome to the Schreiber High School Middle States Web Page.
Every seven years Schreiber High School undergoes a period of self examination guided by 12 standards or principles set forth by the Middle States Commission of Secondary Schools. This period of self study and reflection has led to the setting of approved objectives and plans that the school will now seek to attain throughout the next seven years. This is our process for strategic planning.
The three objectives selected by the school community at Schreiber are as follows:
Objective #1: By the year 2014, students at Schreiber High School will demonstrate academic improvement by earning an increased number of advanced Regents diplomas, an increase in the number of students achieving mastery on Regents examinations and an increase in enrollment in elective courses.
Objective #2: By the year 2014, Schreiber High School students will gain proficiency in information literacy as measured by grade level assessments of information literacy standards.
Objective #3: By the year 2014, Schreiber High School students will show an improved understanding of integrity, conduct and civic responsibility.
These objectives are the result of a rigorous self study. Parents, students and faculty all participated cooperatively in the process and we are proud of the results.
From October 25th through October 27th 2006, we were visited by a team of educators appointed by the Middle States Commission.
We are proud to announce that the Middle States visiting team recommended and that the Middle States Commission has granted us accrediation for the next seven years. This means that we have made adequate progress towards and are continuing the process of self improvement and that we have met the 12 standards set by Middle States. We have now begun working towards meeting our objectives.
In order to manage and coordinate the tasks ahead, Schreiber high school has designated a Middle States Implementation Team. This team, comprised of parents, teachers, students, administrators and a member of the Board of Education meets monthly to review progress, make suggestions and, if necessary, course corrections. Different committees have been formed and these committees also report to the Implementation Team. These standing committees are:
The Information Literacy Committee
The Conduct Character and Mission (CCM) Committee
The Staff Development Committee
These committees have been tasked with facilitating certain action plan items and have been working diligently towards this end.
In order to measure progress towards our objectives and goals a set of statistical indicators and benchmarks was established. Click on the page "Middle States Progress" to view our progress towards meeting our goals.
On the following pages you will find a variety of documents. Some of these documents were produced during our self study. Other documents chronicle the progress we have made to date. Please take some time to review this documentation so that you can remain aware of the progress we have been making our Middle States goals.
