Special Education
The district has developed a wide range of comprehensive programs for children with disabilities. Resource rooms provide children with small group instruction supplementing their regular classroom program. Some inclusion classes are offered at Weber Middle School and Schreiber High School depending on student needs. Special Education classes have students with similar needs receiving equivalent and/or modified instruction provided by a Special Education teacher and an assistant. Consultant teacher services support children in general education, and related services are provided for children based on their individual learning needs. Some Port Washington children attend out-of-district programs which are appropriate in meeting their individual needs. All of the Special Education programs are overseen by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services, whose office is located at the Administrative Annex.
