Posted by Daliah B. at 3/15/2013And the new, 2013, Cabaret Theme is.... *drum roll*..... LOVE AND HATE (good and evil, heroes and villains)!! Yes, it's that time again, where the Weber Drama Club hosts "Cabaret"! Cabaret, for those of you who don't know, is like a talent show. You can sing, perform a monologue, or a silly skit, as long as it relates to the theme! There is also the Jr. Thespian Society Induction on that day! Where those of you who have done two shows can officially be apart of the Jr. Thespian Society! The auditions for Cabaret will be announced (auditions are just in case there is a song/skit that is inappropriate or mean). Remember that next week there is no drama club :( but there is a meeting after the spring break!!

Posted by Daliah at 2/14/2013Wow. I can't believe that nine weeks of singing, acting, and dancing have already went by! Well, you know the expression, "time flies when you're having fun"! Everyone did phenomenal at the performances, sorry I couldn't attend the last one. You all pitched in a great amount of effort and we worked together as a team, that's what Drama Club is really about. On March 1st, we are going to watch our performance from Sunday at 3pm! Don't miss it! :D

Posted by Daliah B. at 12/1/2012Today in Drama club was our first meeting for Bye Bye Birdie! We got through a lot today. Mrs. Friedman and Mrs. Portmore-Davies explained some of the parts to us to get a better understanding of who we play as. In addition, we ran through an entire song! (Patriotic, healthy, normal, american boy). Although it was very confusing because of the harmonies, everyone was able to pitch in and give a great amount of effort! Remember to check the website for upcoming rehearsal dates and to check out some of the Bye Bye Birdie categories on the website! They are very helpful! :) Congratulations to everyone in the cast! You all did great at auditions! -

Posted by Daliah B. at 11/16/2012Drama Club's meeting today was very important. We learned the audition songs (which are found on the website in case you didn't get a copy) and learned some of the Do's and Don't's of Auditioning! Here are some tips for auditions:1. Sing loudly2. Make eye contact3. Wear comfortable clothes4. Smile (darling, smile!)5. Know the words (and don't ask to start over. If you mess up, keep going)6. Act out emotions7. Have fun!Remember that the auditions are on November 27 and the call backs are on November 29.Remember, if you don't get called back it doesn't mean you didn't get a part.Remember to print out the audition forms and to have your parents sign it!Break a leg everyone :) -

Posted by Daliah B. at 10/29/2012Today's meeting was definitely amazing! Everyone came in with a costume or a certain prop and acted like their character! Some examples of characters we saw were, Cleopatra, Dracula, Harry Potter, Undecided Voters, and many other spectacular ones! Many awards were given out for the best acting and the best costumes! Congratulations to those who won! Next week's meeting we are going to learn the Do's and Don't's of Auditions (can you believe that we are this close to auditions already?) and we may play some improv games!

Posted by Gabrielle at 3/23/2012Well, we surely had another exciting Drama Club meeting today! To start off, some high schoolers came to tell us about their play, Beauty and the Beast! Then, some people put on monolouges about overcoming an obstacle. They came in all different varieties. For example, some were funny and some were a little more serious. Look forward to another fun Drama Club meeting nect week! -

Posted by Gabrielle at 3/16/2012Well, of course, we had another awesome drama club meeting (but when isn't drama club awesome?)! Our two presidents, Alex and Isabel, put on monolouges about overcoming obstacles, and they gave out some tips about writing the monolouges. *Next week, anybody who wants to write and perform a monolouge about overcoming obstacles will have the chance to do so! Remember, it is not mandatory to write one, but it could be put into our cabaret performance, which is coming up! After the monolouges performed by our presidents, we played a Drama CLub facorite, "Freeze", and "Angel, Palm Tree, Elephant", which is when you have a person in the middle, and if they point to you, you and the people next to you have to start acting as either a angel, palm tree, or elephant. -

Posted by Gabby at 3/9/2012Today we had another awesome Drama Club meeting! Our officers lead us in two games called "The Bench Game" and "Taxi". "The Bench Game" is an awesome game where you sit on a "bench" and you have to try to get the other person sitting off of the bench by doing creepy or funny things. In "Taxi", four people sit in a "taxi" and the "driver" has to start doing something like a random conversation such as, "I like pie". The other people in the "taxi" have to then imitate the "driver" and copy what he/she is doing. We really had a lot of fun!
Stay tuned for next week when our officers will put on some dialouges and monolouges, with maybe a game or two. -

Posted by Gabrielle at 3/2/2012It is incredibly hard to believe that it was almost four whole months ago that we held our auditions for "Joseph" on November 17th! We rehearsed for the show for almost three months. Well, these rehearsals certainly paid off because on February 10th, 11th, and 12th, the drama club put on a spectacular show. It was amazing, and I believe that everybody had a blast! This was all made possible by three special people: Mrs Friedman, Mrs. Portmore-Davies, and Ms. Baker. Thank you so much for all of your constant, tremendous, hardwork to make this show a success! In my experience, this was definitely one of my favorite shows I have ever done! I had a blast doing it with the rest of the outstanding cast, crew, pit, and drama club advisors! I hope that everybody else had as much fun as I did doing this show!
Stay tuned for next week, where are Presidents will be leading us in some fun games at a regular scheduled drama club meeting!
